Friday evening, February 1, 2008 turned out to be a beautiful evening at the Summerville Lodge Masonic Hall. On this evening approximatly 40 people gathered to watch the Installation of Officers for Summerville Assembly No. 28 International Order of Rainbow for Girls. Miss Heather S., Grand Worthy Advisor, for Rainbow in South Carolina was Installed as Worthy Advisor for the Assembly for the spring term.
For those of you who do not know much about Rainbow, you can learn alot at the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls web site (http://www.iorg.org/index.html) but in a nut shell:
”Rainbow is a non-profit, service-oriented organization that teaches girls three basic virtues: Faith in a Supreme Being and other people, having Hope in all that they do, and Charity toward others.”
Summerville Assembly has a long history of service to the community in the name of Rainbow and this year is no different. Heather has planned an exciting term and all of her officers are excited about doing new things. Our Mother Advisor, Mrs. Marilyn Lipscomb, continues to be the driving force behind our assembly and ensures that these young ladies have the ability to handle themselves with class and dignity in every situation.
If you know of a young lady between the ages of 11 and 20 won’t you please encourage her learn a little about Rainbow and what it can offer her in her life.
Summerville is also pleased to annouce that it’s Raindrop and Pledge programs are gaining interest. Currently we have pledge meetings on the 3rd thurday of every month before our Rainbow meeting. These beautiful girls are learing at an early age that being a proper lady counts for alot.

If you would like more information send an email to webmaster@summervillelodge.org and we will be happy to help you get started. Once again, congratulations to all of the newly Installed officers of Summerville Assembly No. 28 and Good Luck on a successful term.

Three night of excellent ritual work were on display on the nights of January, 28th, 29th and 30th 2008. The following picture shows those candidates who received their Entered Apprentice Degrees.

Summerville Lodge No. 234 A.F.M. had the honor or reveiving Most Worshipful Brother Gerald L. Carver, Grand Master of Masons, in South Carolina on Monday January 28th. Most Worshipful Brother Carver was accompanied by, Right Worshipful Brother Barry Rickman, Deputy Grand Master and Right Worshipful Brother David DeChant, Junior Grand Warden. Several other grand Lodge Officers were present and we would like to thank them all for being with us on the evening we began to initiate these brothers.
We were very fortunate that this group represents three seperate groups of Fathers and Sons as well as Brothers, not to mention all of them being close friends, who decided that they would like to take this wonderful step into Masonry at the same time. We congratulate them and encourage them to study hard as they continue on the the Fellowcraft Degree.
