This late breaking news is just into the Summerville Lodge News room….
The Master Mason Degree which was originally scheduled for May 1, 2007 has been postponed. One of our candidates is going to be out of town and the other two in the class did not want to go without their partner.
A practice for the E.A. Degree will be held in its place and the MM will be rescheduled.

Summerville’s Chapter of DeMolay was invited to attend the Grand Lodge banquet on April 26, 2007 and performed the ceremony of Light. Most Worshipful Brother Ronald C. Mitchum, who was so instrumental in helping our chapter to be reinstated after several years of no activity, invited our young men up to the banquet and boy did they shine!!
Master Councilor Jonathan B. who even though he said he wasn’t nervous, went on stage before approximately 350 - 400 attendees, including some of the highest ranking masons in the state as well as Grand Masters and distinguished visitors from other states. Brother Tyler, who is the Senior Councilor of Summerville Chapter, aided in the ceremony. Both of our young men presented themselves very well and Summerville lodge can be proud!

Summerville Chapter is always seeking young men who would like to be enlightened by what the principles of DeMolay teach. If you know of a young man between the ages of 12 and 21, what greater gift could you give them, than lessons in Parental Love, Reverence, Courtesy, Comradeship, Fidelity, Cleanness and Patriotism? If you know of someone, please get in touch with our Chapter Dad, James Bouknight.

The 72nd Annual Installation of Officers for Summerville Chapter No. 143 Order of the Eastern Star was held on Saturday, April 14th, 2007 at 4:00 in the evening. The chapter room was set up beautifully as our outgoing Worthy Matron Theresa McKnight entered the chapter room for the last time during her tenure as Worthy Matron.
The Installing Grand Officer, Sister Dorothy Mitchum, Past Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of South Carolina introduced her installing officers and then the newly elected and appointed officers for the chapter were one by one duly installed.
Congratulations are in order for the new Worthy Matron of Summerville Chapter Sister Mary Lou Blackwell.
Her Welcome is included here:
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
This year is the end of a long journey for me. It is special to me, in that, my 30th year in the Eastern Star is also my year to be your Worthy Matron.
I promise to make this a year of Love, Peace and Happiness. With out these there is no Joy. I believe we should enjoy everything that we do for the Order of the Eastern Star. I invite all of you to join me in this journey. May the good Lord watch over us and guide us in everything we do.
In Star Love,
Mary Lou Blackwell
Worthy Matron 2007-2008
The New Worthy Patron also addressed the chapter and his Address is printed here as well:
My Sisters and Brothers,
I am fortunate to be Loved by so many, my Family, my Friends and my Sisters and Brothers. I thank each of you for your confidence in me to serve as your Worthy Patron again. It is my fervent wish, that in some small way, I can repay the Love that this Chapter has given me.
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
James E. Bouknight
Worthy Patron 2007-2008
Congratulations to all of the Officers and we wish them a very Successful and Fun Year
Be sure to check out the Photo Gallery for all of the Photos, they will be uploaded by midnight on April 19, 2007.

Pamela Kopp
was initiated at a beautiful ceremony on April 12th, 2007. Worthy Matron Theresa McKnight in her last official role as Worthy Matron of Summerville Chapter No. 143 had the honor of initiating her Mother-in-law.
Sister Theresa also took on the additional duty of the Conductress and did an excellent job as she introduced Sister Pam to the Heroines of our order.
Sister Gail Bouknight as Adah
Sister Samantha Paradise as Ruth
Sister Angela Snavely as Esther
Sister Stacey Craven as Martha
Sister Lea Roberson as Electa
All presented the work in an exemplary manner.
It was a beautiful degree and the next time you see Pam, be sure to congratulate her.
